Falling
Standing atop of that bridge; I did it. Just like that, one step
forward. Free, uncontrollable. I felt as light as feather yet at the same time
as heavy as a sack of stones; isn’t that weird? Feeling like you’re flying, but
in reality, plummeting toward the earth at however many miles an hour? I didn’t
have time to think about that; I didn’t want
to think about that. I just kept my mind on the freedom; freedom from the
small village I resided in, freedom from people’s expectations, freedom from my
insecurities, and freedom from gravity. Such a selfish force, keeping me from
living my dream. I floated, I drifted, I was volant like a bird. I felt the
wind in my hair, almost bringing it to life. Strong breeze passed my skin,
drying my eyes as I stared at my surroundings; brilliant green trees, lush
green grass, the sky that was so clear, it was almost crystalline, and the phosphorescence
of the large sun. I took that leap of faith; and as I descended toward the
ground, a smile twitched at my lips. Perfect.
